The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Dr Peya Mushelenga urged the public to support the nationhood and national pride programme.
The NNP regional engagement was concluded in Mariental.
The NNP was launched in 2011 to instil the spirit of nationhood and patriotism in all Namibian citizens as well as consolidate peace and stability.
In his presentation, Dr Mushelenga highlighted the objectives and commitments of the nationhood and national pride programme, emphasizing the need for all citizens to make positive contributions by engaging in positive activities.
Mushelenga also spoke about gender-based violence, crime, corruption and self-enrichment.
"National pride is when fellow countrymen and women or even yourself feel proud of what you are doing."
Participants at the occasion recommended for introduction of additional cultural events at constituency levels as well as cultural dresses in school in order to promote unity in diversity.
They also raised the issue of unequal distribution of the benefits derived from the natural resources in the country, which is viewed as a hindrance to the implementation of the nationhood programme.
The Minister stressed the need for citizens to view themselves as Namibians and put their differences aside regardless of their political affiliation or ethnicity.
