Corruption destroys public trust, but it equally robs the public of shared resources and opportunities.

These were some of the remarks shared by the Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Dr Peya Mushelenga, during an engagement with the ||Kharas regional authorities on Nationhood and National Pride at Keetmanshoop.

Dr Mushelenga says leaders entrusted with public resources are responsible for ensuring that the masses benefit from such resources and not just a handful of people.

He called on public officials to refrain from corrupt activities as these are some of the stumbling blocks for nation building.

Mushelenga, not mincing his words said public officials cannot be furthering the course of a country and the nation if they are squandering government resources.

Since independence in 1990, the Namibian government adopted the concept of one Namibia one nation, despite being a diverse country, patriotism towards the country continues to be encouraged, through initiatives such as the Nationhood and National Pride campaigns.

The Nationhood and National Pride campaign aims to instill a sense of pride of being Namibian and celebrates local and international role-players in the advancement of Namibian culture, and heritage.
