LPM has dismissed accusations of underperformance and failing to deliver, particularly in the ||Kharas Region, where they are the majority.
LPM Chief Change Campaigner, Bernadus Swaartbooi, says it's unfair to place any emphasis on failure, as the party is merely less than two years in control of both the ||Kharas and Hardap regional councils.
Addressing a media conference, Swartbooi said he is proud of the LPM's achievements in both regions thus far.
While acknowledging that challenges do exist, he vowed that the party will tackle issues, despite what he termed a skewed distribution of funds for capital projects.
Swartbooi also responded to remarks made by Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila during a recent visit to the Hardap Region.
During the media conference, Swartbooi asked if the Premier ever made an effort to call the councilors in their capacity as government institutional representatives to see how they could overcome the shortcomings they face.
According to Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, the Governor's failure to deliver a State of the Region Address made it difficult for ministries to account to residents for the implementation of government programs.
In a statement, Kuugongelwa-Amadhila's office insisted that she has met with all communities, including residents of the ||Kharas Region, and added that none of the challenges identified could be attributed to any refusal on the office's part to act.
