The Namibia National Farmers Union, NNFU constitution remains unchanged after members reviewed it at a five day workshop held at Otjiwarongo. 

NNFU is a national federation of regional farmer's unions established in 1992 to serve as a mouthpiece for Namibian farmers.

As per the union's constitution, the organisational, decision making and administration structure shall follow the hierarchy of congress, National Council, the executive committee of the National Council with office-bearers, board of directors, and secretariats.

Topics that received attention included the number of members the Board of Directors should have. 

Some farmers suggested that the number of board members is increased to 14, to ensure each region is represented on the board.

During the voting process, the majority pushed for the status quo to remain as is, 

Also unchanged is the number of female-to-male representations. Despite a noteworthy push for 50 percent of female representation, some farmers were adamant that emphasis be placed on leadership qualities rather than gender.
   
"I will be pleased to hear about the successful final draft of your constitution, which should be comprehensive, coherent, and inclusive, and your choice of the Otjiwarongo as a central and strategic place," said Otjozondjupa Regional Council Chairperson, Marlayn Mbakera. 

NNFU Acting President Amon Kapi said it is important that the agricultural sector remains focused as the backbone of the economy and to ensure food security in the country.

" We need to have organized agricultural sector, that is the song that we used to sing as farmers we need to make sure that we are going to study this document it must be our bible so that we can know what is the aim why we are representing the farmers on the ground. OUT:
