The Namibia Tourism Board has embarked on a marketing drive aimed at boosting domestic tourism.

The NTB took a group of journalists on a tour of local tourism establishments in the Kalahari Desert in the Hardap and Omaheke regions.

The journalists made a stopover at Hardap Dam Resort, Lake Oanob Resort,  Gondwana Farm House, Harnas Wildlife Guest Farm, Nla'an Kuse Lodge and! Kharuhase Roots Lodge.

The tour dubbed: Kalahari Local Media Familiarization Trip was tailored to sensitize Namibians to travel to various tourist destinations within the country to keep the domestic market as a key anchor to the tourism industry.

Addressing journalists, NTA CEO Digu //Naobeb said it is critical for the board to partner with the media to promote what the country's tourism industry offers.

//Naobeb indicated that the tourism industry has not rebounded fully after the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak although international tourism influx is on the rise.

The NTB CEO revealed that according to research done by the tourism regulatory body,  pricing was deterring factor for Namibians from visiting tourist facilities within the country.

//Naobeb however says revenue management in the tourism industry will be discussed at the upcoming tourism symposium in an effort the address the issue of pricing.
