All office-bearers at the Nkurenkuru Town Council have been re-elected.
Mayor Marcus Muti was re-elected for the second term, deputized by Fani Kaundu.
Muti says Nkurenkuru will continue to implement socio-economic development programs aimed at enhancing the well-being of its residents.
He believes residents of the town and the council can work together to reverse the effects of some of the social ills affecting them.
"Another source of concern in the town is the high rate of unemployment, particularly among the youth; teenage pregnancy; the HIV/AIDS pandemic; orphans and vulnerable children; the COVID pandemic; and alcohol abuse."
He says affordable housing, water, and electricity provision remain at the top of the council's agenda.
Angelius Liveve was elected Chairperson of the Town Council's Management Committee for a one-year term, with Robert Katura and Lina Kaveto completing the town's management committee, while Agatha Muhepa and Andreas Katanga remain ordinary members of the all-Swapo Nkurenkuru Town Council.
