The Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) has handed over two classrooms to the Maunga Junior Primary School in Linyanti Constituency.
The classrooms were constructed at a cost of N$500 000.
The Head of Marketing & Corporate Affairs at the Development Bank of Namibia, Jerome Mutumba said rural development is central to the government, and government institutions must play a role to develop the rural part of the country.
Also speaking at the handing over was school principal, Susan Museke.
"Compared to the tents that you saw and those mud classrooms that are over there, we believe this new classroom will improve our learners' attendance."
The second area induna, Pex Isiah appealed for further assistance in the electrification of the classrooms, and teachers' homes, as well as construction and addition classes in order to accommodate more learners in higher grades.
Residents in the area expressed concern that the school only ends at Grade 4, which is forcing learners to walk seven kilometers daily to the nearest school which accommodates learners from Grade 5 upwards in the Batubaja area.
