Residents of Otjohorongo in the Erongo Region teamed up to put out veld fires that have been burning for the past six days.
The veld fires have spread over 15 kilometers destroying anything in its path.
Residents are still battling the fires on their own, and strong winds are aggravating the situation.
About 40 households have been affected, and are in need of animal fodder.
The Okamaere and Okongwe Village Headman, Immanuel Tjipepa said they are trying, the fire is now on the mountain and it is burning fast. It has burnt everything. He is, therefore, asking for Government help to assist with fodder for those affected. The Headman said they are not yet sure if any livestock has perished, but the fire is still spreading.
The village resident, Josefat Ngutjinazo said, "at the moment, the entire area is burnt, you can see the mountain from Otjohorongo, Okanuambuku, Okamaere, Omutiuanduko has been burnt also. No one is helping us at the moment and this is from Tuesday up to now, we need help with something that can put off the fire."
These are one of the largest veld fires ever seen in the area.
The cause of the fires is unknown at the moment.
