Cabinet has approved the deployment of 5G technology in Namibia.
5G wireless technology is meant to deliver higher multi-data speeds, more reliability, and massive network capacity.
This was just one of the many decisions taken at the 22nd Cabinet meeting this month.
Cabinet supported the appropriation of the required budget for the implementation of the 5G strategy through the normal budgeting process.
Another decision was the National Action Plan to address shortcomings identified in the National Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Financing of Terrorism and Proliferation Policy.
Cabinet, therefore, approved the draft National Action Plan for implementation and granted approval for the amendment of some identified laws to address shortcomings highlighted in the Mutual Evaluation Report.
Offices, Ministries, Agencies, the Bank of Namibia, Namfisa, and the Financial Intelligence Centre were all directed to commit to the implementation of the National Action Plan by dedicating the necessary resources at the operational level as well as adhering to the timelines prescribed.
In 2021, Namibia participated in the 2020 Expo Dubai.
A report on the expo led to a recommendation for the development of a policy to better involve women, youth, and micro, small, and medium enterprises at future expos.
It was also decided that enough financial and human resources would be allocated for future world expos to cater for sectoral engagements and other promotional activities.
