At Keetmanshoop, some parents were in a joyful mood, while others were frustrated as only a few children secured placement.

Dawid Van Staden came to a local primary school to secure a place for his daughter.

If admitted, she will start her first year of school. However, Van Staden was unable to find his daughter's birth certificate, which is a must-have when registering a learner.

Another parent, Sherly Cloete, whose child will start first grade, urged fellow parents to stop doing things at the last minute, as this creates frustration and anxiety, especially for the children.

The Directorate of Education in the ||Kharas Region has urged parents who could not find placement for their children to contact the circuit inspectors within their jurisdictions.
