The Director of Education in the ||Kharas Region, Johannes ||Hoeseb shared his opinion as the accounting officer on the general performance of learners who sat for the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary and Advanced Subsidiary level examinations.

"The picture looks bleak, but when you come down to the regional level, we have as a region quite a number of highlights and reasons for which we can be proud as far as it concerns the performance of learners in the ||Kharas Region."

The ||Kharas Region is ranked second on the national NSSC level.

"!Garieb Ams Secondary School in Oranjemund is ranked first nationally, that is historic. Karasburg Combined School obtained the first position for entrepreneurship nationally, Suiderlig Secondary School is ranked first in business studies, and Tsau ||Khaeb Secondary School is ranked second in business studies and third in economics. Whereas !Garieb-Ams Secondary is second in entrepreneurship. It is sad to say that some of our learners did not perform that well in Biology, Physics and Chemistry because only 44% of the learners achieved a D plus in Physics, 47% a D plus in Chemistry, and 31% in Biology. That is a very sad development. Also in Mathematics, and as is the case for the rest of the country."

||Hoeseb says only 16% of the NSSCAS level learners achieved a D-plus symbol in Mathematics, while 20% of NSSCO level learners obtained D-plus symbols.
