The Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security has called on border security officers to put an end to rampant stock theft in Kavango West Region. 

Dr. Albert Kawana made the call when he inaugurated phase one of the Namasira police post refurbishment with prefabricated material.

Dr. Kawana says the government continues to improve the living conditions of special field force officers by constructing accommodation facilities along the border.

He called for intensified patrols on the Angola-Namibia border to curb stock theft.

"I request the Inspector General to make sure that patrols are stepped up in this area to stamp out stock theft and as I say our mother."

He further added that "our fathers in this area deserve protection against crime and we must fight tooth and nail, we cannot allow criminals to take over the lives of our nation or the lives of our community.
  
The Namasira Post serves communities on the Ohangwena-Kavango West regions border and Kawana says phase two of the project will include a charge office.

The solar-powered three blocks of barracks with restrooms include 15 sleeping rooms and an office constructed at a cost of N$4 million.

On his part, Mpungu Constituency Councillor Titus Shiudifonya called on the community to establish women and men network in the area.

"I am encouraging our community to join force with the police in maintaining law and order in our region by establishing women and men network in our villages as well as our neighborhood watch."
