Government plans Eurobond repayment , shifts focus to domestic financing

Finance Minister Ericah Shafudah has said the 2025-26 financial year is anticipated to be an eventful year from a financing perspective.

Shafudah pointed out that the government is faced with the redemption of a US$750 million Eurobond on 29 October this year.

Finance Minister Ericah Shafudah has tabled a budget of N$106.3 billion for the 2025-2026 financial year, the maiden budget of the new administration of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. 

The budget, themed "Beyond 35, for a Prosperous Future", marks an increase of 22.6% from the previous year.

Red line application declared unconstitutional

The Windhoek High Court dismissed Dr. Job Amupanda’s bid to declare the northern Red Line unconstitutional.  

Judge Shafimana Ueitele ruled Thursday that Amupanda’s case lacked merit, granting absolution from the instance—meaning no evidence justified a ruling in his favor.

High Court Judge Shafimana Ueitele said he will not recuse himself from the case in which Professor Job Amupanda is challenging the legality of the veterinary Red Line. 

The judge’s decision comes after Amupanda made a slew of allegations against him, which were widely publicized.
