The first load of school furniture and personal belongings from Nankutwe Combined School has arrived at Luhono via the Kapelwa Kabajani Ferry, marking the start of the relocation of flood-affected schools in the Zambezi Region.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services in the Zambezi Region is preparing for a potential increase in the number of flood-affected individuals, estimating up to 23,665 people under a worst-case scenario.

The Otjozondjupa Police have confirmed, following forensic tests, that three of the five people who died in a car accident last month were indeed the Tsaraxa-Aibes Primary School teachers.

Their deaths have left the school and the wider community in mourning.

Flooding in the Zambezi Region is having a devastating impact on farming communities, with many crop fields now submerged under water. Farmers have lost large portions of their crops, while others remain at risk as water levels continue to rise.

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) has emphasised the need for satellite technology in Namibia due to its wide coverage. 

Currently, most of Namibia's services are running on terrestrial networks with a limited reach.
