Black Africa FC is collaborating with the Hopsol Youth Soccer League to participate in a popular tournament in South Africa from the 18th to the 24th of March. Black Africa FC has received an invitation to participate at the Future Champions Cup. But, because the club does not have a youth academy, they saw it fit to collaborate with Hopsol Youth Soccer League and select promising under 17 players who are going to represent the team. Black Africa Chairman Ranga Haikali explained the ins and outs of their collaboration in more detail. “Black Africa as a club in the premier league is obliged to have a youth academy but due to lack of resources and finances we don’t have, when this opportunity came we thought we cannot let this go, we decided to collaborate with Hopsol Youth Soccer Academy to help us select under 17 players that will represent the team and the Country as this will benefit a lot of youngsters and it’s going to be an annual event for us” Haikali said. The Future Champions Cup was established during the build-up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the tournament has since grown to become one of the most prestigious and elite under U17 Football tournaments in the world. Eight of the top U17 Clubs from North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa take part in the tournament annually. Clubs like Manchester City, Everton, FC Barcelona, and Paris St Germain are regular participants. Meanwhile, the Hopsol Youth Soccer League which was initially just based in Khomas, has extended to other regions as well, as this year they are moving to the coast. Here, more than 200 kids have registered and their league will start on the 7th of April, while the Khomas Division is set to start on the 23rd of February in Windhoek.
