Khomas Crowned NNYG champions

Windhoek-Khomas region is the overall champions of the first ever Namibia National Youth Games which ended in Windhoek on Saturday. The National Youth Games which was held under the under the theme "Creating opportunities for all Namibians in sports without fear or favour" brought together athletes from different corners of the country. They competed in Athletics , Football, Netball, Basketball, Boxing, Volleyball ,Swimming, Tennis and Judo Top performers are expected to be be selected in the under 20 national teams, which would represent the country at the Zone Six Games in Gaborone, Botswana in December this year Khomas region emerged victorious, after collecting 66 medals of which 36 Gold 18 Silver and 12 Bronze. Erongo came second with 27 medals, 10 Gold, 9 Silver and 8 Bronze while Kavango East had to settle for a third place with 22 medals, 9 Gold , 7 Silver and 6 Bronze Medals. The games ended with the closing ceremony at Windhoek Independence stadium.
