The Namibian Basketball Federation launched their latest corporate brand identity under the slogan 'United Under One Footprint' in the capital on Wednesday. Although basketball at some point seemed to have been stagnant in the country. The Namibian Basketball Federation has now committed itself to a new four year plan, spreading its proverbial wings to all four corners of the country. They want to implement development, training, coaching and equipment together with the support of the stakeholders. “I’m delighted to learn that the Basketball Federation will walk the walk and talk the talk with this new logo. Let it just not be a form of decoration. Therefore it is my honour to launch this new identity” said Benjamin Rebang Emphasis has also been put on the need for a senior basketball team to be groomed from the current junior Basketball team. The president of NBF Andrew Masongo said, “If you have realised we had a peak of basketball in the 2000s and we still have the same players playing, but we need to create a system that can feed the national teams.” More plans are underway to launch the Namibian Basketball premier league this year, through identification of skills and talent in other regions. “We want first to form a functional working structure that works, first we start with Khomas which is doing quite well, then with time and progress we move on to other regions like Zambezi and Rundu” said Ramah Mumba the NBF secretary general. The Namibian Basketball federation has called on the Namibia Sports Commission for help in developing the brand and assist in any means possible to sustain the future of the sport code.
