Windhoek-The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation officially launched the 2018 FIFA World Cup broadcast, which will kick off on Thursday. It was officially announced that NBC will broadcast 32 games of the 64 World Cup games. At the launch, NBC Director General Stanley Similo said that the acquisition of the games was a trying process but negotiation channels are still open to get more. “The negotiations that goes on in acquiring these rights are hard. We have been privileged that we have partners such as Kwese tv who have made us look like giants in bringing these games live.” said Similo. Mbeuta ua Ndjarakana, the permanent secretary in the Ministry of ICT delivered Minister Stanley Simata's speech, and congratulated NBC on the acquisition of the rights. He also used the platform to urge viewers to use nbc plus. “In April when I launched the nbc plus application for NBC, I knew then that nbc was busy negotiating with Kwese tv to bring the games live. These two milestones are testimony that nbc has capable leadership.” Ndjarakana quoted Simata. Among the guests was Sport Minister Erastus Uutoni. “ I found myself asking plenty of questions, like what would have happened if NBC had not gotten the rights to bring these games to the ordinary Namibian. Now many will have the pleasure of following their teams from the comfort of their homes. Is this not a commendable achievement for nbc?" asked Uutoni before he launched the upcoming broadcast.
