Two of the five African countries at the 2018 World Cup - Egypt and Morocco were in action on Friday. Egypt stood the test before going down 1-0 to a last-minute goal against Uruguay while Morocco forced a 0-0 draw against Iran. Egypt took on Uruguay in the first match of the day without the injured star striker Mohamed Salah. The north African country acquainted themselves of the task at hand with some eye catching display on their return to the showpiece for the first time in 28 years. They however paid the price at the death of the match. Next on the field was another African representative Morocco up against Iran in a match that produced huge amount of chances for both countries only to be left by finishing. It was this double save by Moroccan goalkeeper Monir El Kajoui that save their faces in the match. The status quo remained in the second half with both countries failing to convert their chances into goals as they shared the spoils in the end with nothing on the score board to brag about. Three other African representatives - Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia will be in action in the next three days.
