The Deputy Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs has asked that Namibians prioritise economic freedom as the next phase of the country's development.

The |Khomas Region on Friday hosted cultural performances and a talent show themed "NamFest@36".

This festive event aimed to celebrate Namibia's youth and creativity.

The event began with the Uhuru march, where participants, mainly school learners, marched from Palm Tree Park to Zoo Park.

In Gobabis, visual artist and trainer Silverius Olibile has been shaping young people with artistic talent since the early years of independence. 

Learners at Elim Primary School in Windhoek were encouraged to value independence, work hard and believe in their future.

The school held a pre-Independence Day celebration on Friday.

The Vice President, Lucia Witbooi, has called on Namibians to follow the example of the country's forebearers, urging citizens to embrace selflessness, unity and resilience in serving the nation.

She was speaking at the Independence Day celebration at Karasburg.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says Namibia does not forget countries and movements that supported Namibia's liberation struggle.

She emphasised that the country's independence was built on global solidarity. 

The Aminuis Constituency Councillor, Isando Kavari, has vowed that his office will work tirelessly on the issue of agriculture, youth empowerment, education and health, amongst other priority areas, in order to advance development.
Kavari remarked this during an interview with NBC News at Aminuis. 

The road to the crown has officially begun after the Top 20 semi-finalists for Miss Teen Namibia and Miss Namibia were unveiled during a ceremony in Windhoek over the weekend.

The semi-finalists will now compete for the prestigious national titles later this year. 

Young people are being urged to take a leading role in transforming Namibia's agricultural sector and reducing the country's heavy reliance on food imports.

The call was made during the Youth Agricultural Co-operative establishment training at Swakopmund.

The Governor of ||Kharas Region, has called on the first intake of the Keetmanshoop Vocational Training Centre to become advocates of change driving progress and development.
