The fishermen who undertook a crippling strike in 2015 at Walvis Bay have distanced themselves from the group of fishermen currently demonstrating in Windhoek.
The Chairperson of the Ex-Striking Okapare Fishermen, Godfried Kuhanga, made the clarification alongside other former striking fishermen.
The Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, Lucia Iipumbu, is concerned about the interference by some political parties and pressure groups in labour disputes.
Iipumbu emphasises the importance of utilising established channels and advocates for a collabourative stance when dealing with labour issues.
The Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation has collected about N$2.5 million from labour disputes on behalf of complainants, during the 2021 - 2022 financial year.
Minister Utoni Nujoma revealed this when he addressed his staff.
