The Swakopmund Constituency Development Fund has awarded machinery to boost twelve small businesses in the coastal town.
The handover of equipment, including sewing, printing, and washing machines, aims to empower local entrepreneurs and stimulate economic growth.
The Erongo Regional Council (ERC) hosted a symbolic handover of Constituency Development Fund materials valued at N$784,000.
The handover took place at the Erongo Regional Office in Swakopmund.
The Erongo Regional Council, through its Constituency Development Fund, allocated machinery and equipment valued at about N$350,000 to close to 30 upcoming smaller entrepreneurs from Arandis and Henties Bay.
The National Council Chairperson, Lukas Muha, has expressed the need for the upper house and regional councils to engage communities to listen to their concerns.
This will help in the formulation of development agendas and legislative frameworks.
Swakopmund Constituency Councillor Louisa Kativa says the town's high unemployment rate is worrisome.
Kativa handed over equipment to small and medium enterprises, valued at N$130,000, through the Constituency Development Fund.
