Namibia and Botswana have signed a series of agreements aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation, following the conclusion of the second session of the Bi-National Commission (BNC).

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and President Duma Boko of Botswana have stressed the need to build on the progress and achievements made since the inaugural session of the Bi-National Commission (BNC), held in 2022.

The Second Session of the Botswana-Namibia Bi-National Commission (BNC) convened in Windhoek on Monday. 

Namibia and Botswana are to sign an agreement on research, science, and technology during the second Bi-National Commission, which will be co-chaired by the two nations' presidents this week.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and President Emmerson Mnangagwa have identified the Trans-Kalahari Highway as a critical enabler to increase trade and other economic activities between Namibia and Zimbabwe. 

Namibia and South Africa have unanimously adopted the report, which guides negotiations surrounding the Orange River Boundary.

The report was adopted at the just concluded meeting of the Political, Diplomatic, and Legal Committee of the Namibia-South Africa Bi-National Commission.

Namibia and Ghana have agreed to upgrade their Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation to a bi-national commission.

This move will further strengthen the relations between the two countries.

Namibia and South Africa have agreed to hold mid-term review sessions between the Bi-National Commission meetings as they forge ahead with a new era of cooperation.

Namibia and South Africa reaffirmed their continued support for the pursuit of self-determination in Western Sahara.

The countries declared their support during the Bi-National Commission Ministerial Meeting held in Windhoek. The United Nations classified Western Sahara as a non-self-governing territory.

President Hage Geingob is hopeful that the long-standing issue of the Orange River border will be resolved amicably.
