MVA Fund hosts 4th Women in Road Safety Conference

The Motor Vehicle Accident Fund of Namibia recently hosted the 4th Women in Road Safety Conference at Oshakati, under the theme "Empowering Communities for Safer Roads."

The conference was aimed at raising awareness about road safety issues specifically impacting women and empowering communities to take an active role in promoting safer roads for all.

The conference attracted a diverse group of women, road safety advocates, community leaders, and government officials.

Road fatalities decreased in 2022

Road fatalities decreased by 2.2% last year, as reported in the 2022 Road Crush and Claims Report, which was launched in Windhoek by the Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund.

According to the report, the road fatality rate in 2021 stood at 13.7%, whereas in 2022, it dropped to 11.5%.

More than 4,000 cars were involved in crashes.

Sedans accounted for 47%, while pickups made up 30% of the statistics.
