Members of the National Council expressed concern over the shortage of social workers in the country, saying it contributes to growing numbers of mentally and emotionally distressed people in communities.

The need for infrastructure and equipment for educational purposes remains pressing in the |Khomas Region due to the constant population increase.

For this reason, the |Khomas Regional Council, together with the Ministry of Education, have constructed five additional classrooms at two schools.

Africa has a shortage of 5.3 million health workers. 

This was revealed by the Communication Officer of the World Health Organisation's Africa Regional Office, Marie France Uwase, at a media briefing on the preparations for the upcoming First Africa Health Workforce Investment Forum next week.

The Executive Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Tylvas Shilongo, has reiterated that a shortage of investigators and a lack of specialised courts are some of the challenges impeding the resolution of cases.

Shilongo made these comments during a media briefing.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Arts, and Culture, Faustina Caley, has highlighted the shortage of teaching and learning resources, along with insufficient support, as crucial factors requiring immediate intervention in the Kavango East Region.
