Burundi’s President, Évariste Ndayishimiye, has been elected Chairperson of the African Union at the 39th Ordinary Summit of the continental body.

Ndayishimiye takes over the rotational AU chairmanship from Angola’s President, João Lourenço.

Thousands of Congolese refugees arrived in Burundi on Saturday, after renewed violence linked to the M23 group in the Democratic Republic of Congo's North and South Kivu provinces. 

The Brave Warriors are currently in their final phase of preparation for their upcoming AFCON qualifiers match against Burundi, which will take place next week Tuesday in Tanzania.
