Kavango East Region underpoliced

The Kavango East Region has four times fewer police officers than required.

Acting Police Regional Commander Eino Nambahu says there are only 665 officers on the ground in the region, while 3,000 police officers are required.

Rundu police cells overcrowded

Community members feel that the school has been neglected for many years, with not even the bare necessities of a school.

The Rundu Town Council is finally taking action to improve the status of the Tumweneni informal settlement.

The action comes after a directive from the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Erastus Uutoni, in August 2022 to formalise Tumweneni.

Two men arrested with contraband at Kongola check point

Two male suspects are in custody, and their truck was seized by the Namibian Police at Kongola after contraband was found in their possession during a routine search at the checkpoint.

The suspects, aged 27 and 37, respectively, are said to be employed by a local trucking company.

Break-in reported at Rundu Education offices

The incident was discovered by staff members who reported for duty on Friday. 

Authorities say they lost valuable items and data that were on the stolen laptops.
