The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, has reiterated the importance of ethical and responsible social media use.

Minister of Information and Communication Technology Emma Theofelus has called on public enterprises to work towards self-reliance in anticipation of a phased reduction in government subsidies over the next few years.

The Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Modestus Amutse, has urged the staff members of the ministry to ensure that their services and work have a tangible impact throughout the country, including at the grassroots level.

Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) is hopeful that the rollout of 5G technology in Namibia will unlock untapped values that lie within the country's digital infrastructure.

This, it says, will also result in a significant milestone for the economy and its people's livelihood. 

The extension of SIM card registration has resulted in a decline in individuals' queuing up to register their numbers at mobile homes.

The deadline initially set for December 31, 2023, saw long queues as people rushed at the last minute to register their SIM cards.
