Inspector General of the Police, Joseph Shikongo, has expressed disappointment with the performance of law enforcement officers in the Kavango East Region. 

Following a visit to the region, Shikongo addressed the underperformance and outlined improvement plans.

Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo says, that despite Kavango East being the second-largest region, there is enough manpower for effective policing. 

He pointed out police visibility as a key to combating crime.

Namibians have been encouraged to recommit to the values of compassion, sacrifice, and care for one another as they collectively build a peaceful, safe, and prosperous Namibian house.

President Nangolo Mbumba extended these words of encouragement in a statement, on the occasion of the Easter weekend.

He urged the citizens to steer clear of any conduct that is hurtful, drive safely, and show respect towards law enforcement officers.

The  law enforcement agencies have also been called upon to redouble their efforts to ensure a crime-free weekend.

The festive season is rapidly drawing nearer, and the police are gearing up for their festive season crime prevention and road safety initiatives.

Inspector General Joseph Shikongo addressed officials in his preparatory meeting for the national festive season crime prevention and road safety operation at the national headquarters in the capital.

Shikongo stressed the need for community engagement and partnerships, emphasising that the support and cooperation of citizens are essential in preventing and combating crime.

The Inspector General of the Police, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, has instructed the Regional Commander in Zambezi to extend police services to rural communities.

Shikongo gave these instructions during the inauguration of the Crime Prevention Awareness Campaign in the Zambezi.

During his speech at the launch, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo noted that stock theft in the Zambezi surpasses that of most other regions, predominantly occurring in rural areas where livestock is often stolen.
