The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) held a consultation in Kavango East Region's Mashare Constituency with the communities on key governance and development challenges.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has tasked the newly inaugurated third National Governing Council of the African Peer Review Mechanism, APRM, to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and accountability in carrying out its mandate.

Namibia is taking the lead in combating youth unemployment following its recommendations in the Targeted Review Report on Youth Unemployment and the implementation of its National Programme of Action.

Uganda has pledged US $1 million to the African Peer Review Mechanism, APRM, to support its operations.

The announcement was made by Uganda’s Vice President, Jessica Alupo, during the 35th APRM Forum of Heads of State and 

Government at the African Union headquarters on Friday.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has reappointed Ambassador Lineekela Mboti as the Focal Point and Chief Executive Officer of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) in Namibia, effective from the 1st of September. 

Ambassador Mboti served in the position since 2019 on a five-year contract.

The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) recently held an event at the Zambezi Regional Council to discuss the findings of a country review report focusing on youth unemployment in Namibia. 

Unequal access to productive resources, harmful socio-cultural practices, gender-based violence, and low participation of women in decision-making, especially on the economic front, are some of the challenging factors contributing to gender inequality.

The government will consider the establishment of a permanent National Secretariat to coordinate the activities and programmes of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) in Namibia.

The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) has engaged stakeholders in the ||Kharas Region to assess government performance to enhance good governance and foster sustainable development.
