Magistrate Jurina |Hochobes recused herself from the NAMCOR corruption case on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Lilungwe Basson on Wednesday informed Magistrate Jurina |Hochobes that the State intends to file an application against her, asking her to step aside from the ongoing NAMCOR corruption matter.

The bail hearing of the former NAMCOR corruption accused is scheduled to continue in the Windhoek Magistrate's Court on Monday.

The NAMCOR corruption case was postponed to the 1st of August for the continuation of bail proceedings.

Jennifer Hamukwaya, a former finance executive at NAMCOR, testified at the Windhoek Magistrate's Court on Friday. 

Hamukwaya is among the eight accused people seeking to be released on bail.

Magistrate Linus Samunzala has granted Lydia Elindi bail for N$50,000 after the state withdrew its objection to her release.

The state had initially proposed bail of N$30,000.

Lydia Elindi, along with her husband Malakia Ekindi, is among the accused in the ongoing NAMCOR corruption case.

Former NAMCOR Managing Director Immanuel Mulunga told the court that one of the reasons he lost his job was due to an error in the reallocation of funds used to purchase assets from Enercon for N$53 million.

The number of charges in the ongoing NAMCOR corruption case has risen to 71. 

The State has not yet fully disclosed the relevant documents to the legal representatives of the accused.

A bail application for several of the eight individuals accused in the high-profile Namcor multi-million dollar corruption case is set to be heard in the Windhoek Magistrates' Court on Monday.

The Windhoek High Court has postponed its judgement in the application by Fishrot accused Nigel van Wyk, who is seeking to have nine charges against him dismissed.
