BWPA unhappy with UK's Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill

The Botswana Wildlife Producers Association (BWPA) has expressed discontent with the United Kingdom's Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill. 

The bill tabled in the UK's Parliament in 2022 seeks to prohibit the import of hunting trophies into the UK.

Speaking at a media briefing in Gaborone today, the Chairperson of BWPA, Leonard Matenje, says the proposed bill will have a negative impact on communities dependent on the income from hunting management in Africa.

Zambezi Region residents urged to cultivate crop fields

Zambezi Region Governor, Alufea Sampofu, says despite below-average rainfall received in the region compared to previous years, there is a need to cultivate as many crop fields as possible.

Sampofu encourages all residents to ensure they put bread on the tables of their families.

The Zambezi Governor called on those living in the flood plains, especially in Kabbe South and North constituencies, to be on alert for annual floods.

He observed that, as the levels of the Zambezi River start to rise, people ensure they are not caught off guard.

Namibia commemorates World Children's Day

Namibia marked World Children's Day at Walvis Bay.

The event was attended by the presidents of Botswana, Zimbabwe, and the host nation, Namibia.

Zambia was represented by the Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Doreen Mwamba.

It was a night dedicated to the children, one that was not only attended by children from Namibia but also those from neighbouring countries.
