The nation's tax-collecting authority, NAMRA, responded to public criticism about its systems when sharing new updates at a media conference today.

Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Minister Emma Theofelus, launched the National Cybersecurity Incident Management Guidelines at an awareness event in Ondangwa, urging collaboration between the public and private sectors to build national cyber resilience.

Many individuals, especially those approaching retirement, have become increasingly vulnerable to cybersecurity threats. 

Cybersecurity has transformed from merely a technical necessity into a foundation of broader economic development.

This was a key takeaway at the opening of a three-day 2026 Namibia International Cyber-Security Conference and Exhibition.

This follows discussions on Monday during the 11th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Engagement.

Namibia is taking a major step toward strengthening its fight against cybercrime by aligning its domestic laws with new global standards to combat digital fraud, online exploitation, and cyber threats.
