MoHSS reports 11 malaria-related deaths amid outbreak

The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) has reported 11 malaria-related deaths following an outbreak in some parts of the country.

These are from 604 hospital admissions.

The ministry announced an increase in new cases in most malaria-endemic regions over the past four weeks.

Grootfontein Municipality steps up water supply amid cholera outbreak

To help mitigate the spread of the cholera outbreak in Grootfontein, its municipality has started providing water at different points as they look at addressing sanitation.

This was confirmed by Grootfontein mayor Moritz Gaingob during a briefing with Otjozondjupa Governor John ||Khamuseb.

32 Cholera cases confirmed in Grootfontein district

The Ministry of Health and Social Services has announced 32 confirmed cholera cases in the Grootfontein District as of 12 January. Of 99 suspected cases, 32 were confirmed, with zero deaths recorded.

Oshakati council begins construction of new sewer treatment plant

Oshakati Town Council has commenced with the first phase of the construction of a new sewer treatment plant aimed at resolving the persistent effluent discharge around town.

The project, valued at N$6.9 million, has been awarded to Mediate Trading Enterprises JV Kores Construction. 

Cholera resurfaced in Zambia

Cholera has resurfaced in Zambia, with at least four new cases recorded in the past week.

The Zambia National Public Health Institute managed to contain the first three cases within two days and is now attending to only one patient.
