Zambia destroys over 2,900 firearms in national amnesty drive

In Zambia, about 3,000 assorted firearms have been recovered and destroyed during this year's international firearms amnesty.

2,740 firearms were surrendered through the Zambia Police Service, 230 were forfeited through the Department of National Parks and Wildlife, and 21 were voluntarily surrendered.

1,780 police cadet constables from the Police Basic Training Intake 1/2024-2025 are expected to graduate on Friday at Oshakati.

The graduates will be officially recognised for completing a nine-month basic police training course, which started in August 2024.
