Vice President Lucia Witbooi has handed over the Kaptein's House to the Baster community in Rehoboth. 

The building served as the residence of the late Baster leader, Hans Diergaardt, who died in 1998.

With Namibia rounding off Heritage Week last month, the National Heritage Council (NHC) has announced that it is preparing to nominate Brandberg for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List. 

Namibia currently has two sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The University of Namibia's Cultural and Linguistic Society has hosted the country's first Khoekhoegowab Spelling Bee, an event aimed at promoting and preserving one of Namibia's national languages.

Storybooks Namibia was launched today in Okahandja as a free open educational resource aimed at promoting literacy and language learning in homes, schools, and communities.
