The Speaker of the National Assembly has alerted lawmakers that corruption impacts negatively on investor confidence, economic growth and development, infrastructure development and healthcare.

Saara Kuugongwela-Amadhila said this during the budget motivation for the Anti-Corruption Commission.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, has informed the house that the former president, Dr Nangolo Mbumba, declined to assent to the Definition of Spouse Bill and the Marriage Amendment Bill, both introduced by Jerry Ekandjo during the 7th Parliament.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Professor Peter Katjavivi, led his final session in the August House this afternoon after serving in the position for ten years.

The High Court will, on October 12, 2024, continue to hear arguments, in the case of Bernadus Swartbooi against the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Swartbooi is challenging the legality of the 2021 Joint Declaration between Namibia and Germany.
