President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says Namibia’s green transition must respond to immediate youth employment needs while supporting industrial development.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says Namibia’s clean energy transition must deliver jobs, expand electricity access and drive industrial development, rather than focus solely on emissions reduction.

Namibia is pushing for green industrialisation to drive economic growth, create jobs and reduce the country’s dependence on exporting raw materials.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says the SADC region has prioritised critical industrial sectors to curb heavy import reliance and maximise finished product exports. 

Namibia is one of the six SADC countries, which have since developed the National Leather Strategic Work Plans as the region trudges towards implementation of the regional leather framework.  

The Keetmanshoop Agriculture, Industrial and Tourism Expo (KAITE) significantly contributed to the economic growth of Keetmanshoop and the region's development for over seven decades. 

Newly elected MPs and deputy ministers used their maiden speeches in the National Council to call for industrial development to address socio-economic challenges, including unemployment, housing shortages, and limited access to healthcare and basic services.
