The Chairperson of the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) has called for political support from governments across the region to strengthen the fight against transnational organised crime.

Police Inspector General Joseph Shikongo has said policies and resolutions adopted by the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) are producing results, despite persistent political, economic and social challenges facing member states.

The 3-day consultative meeting of police chiefs from the six member countries—Angola, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe—concluded yesterday in Kasane, Botswana.

The SADC Chiefs of Police Sub-Committee will be meeting in Dar es Salaam from tomorrow until Friday for the Annual General Meeting.

The meeting will focus on tackling transnational organised crime throughout the region.
