The South African Supreme Court of Appeal has upheld the plea that was made to it by the family of Zambia's late former President Edgar Lungu, overturning the August 25 High Court judgement which initially favoured the Zambian government.

South Africa's Supreme Court of Appeal is expected to deliver its judgement tomorrow in the case concerning the repatriation of former President Edgar Lungu's remains to Zambia.

The court reserved judgement after hearing submissions on May 29, 2026.
