The late Headman of Oshikoto's Onelago Village Sam Nepando was buried at Onamutene on Saturday.
  
Nepando was fatally shot to death a week ago following a land dispute.

With the coronation of a traditional leader set for this Saturday, members of the !Aman Traditional Authority delivered a petition to the ||Kharas regional Governor Dawid Gertze on Thursday, demanding that the government stop the coronation of Daniel Frederick.

The Rehoboth Mayor Justin Coetzee described the handing over of the Kaptein's House as a bridge between the past and the present. 

Coetzee said the Baster community built a society in Rehoboth grounded in discipline, faith, and self-governance. 

Vice President Lucia Witbooi has handed over the Kaptein's House to the Baster community in Rehoboth. 

The building served as the residence of the late Baster leader, Hans Diergaardt, who died in 1998.
