A senior police officer, Willem Stoffel, today made his first appearance in the Bethanie Magistrates' Court on charges of defeating the end of justice and contravening the Organised Crime Act charges. 

His brief court appearance follows his arrest last Thursday. 

Bail applicant George Cloete has objected to cross-examination by the state on his bank account transactions during his bail application hearing in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. 

The Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court has denied the bail application of Chairmaine Cloete, one of three suspects charged with two counts of violating the Prevention of Organised Crime Act and illicit trafficking under the Diamond Act.
