The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform has declared a foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) control area within the FMD-free zone in the ||Kharas Region.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform has carried out a regional awareness campaign on the foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) at Khorixas in the Kunene Region.

The Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information Services in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform (MAFWLR), Romeo Muyunda, says they have commenced with the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) awareness campaign in targeted regions. 

A total of Eleven million dollars was raised at the launch of the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) National Taskforce and Support Fund.
The event demonstrated a successful public-private partnership, with farming unions and financial institutions coming together to pledge their support.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform (MAFWLR) has assured farmers and the public at large that no traces of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) have been found in the country thus far.

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform (MAFWLR) Inge Zaamwani says the ministry has put precautionary measures into place to prevent the foot and mouth disease (FMD) from entering the country through the South African border.

The Livestock and Livestock Products Board is urging livestock producers and stakeholders to take proactive measures to protect the foot and mouth disease-free zone. 

Amid persistent foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) outbreaks in neighbouring countries, the Directorate of Veterinary Services (DVS) has urged livestock farmers to remain vigilant against any disease incursions that could threaten the country's FMD-free zone.
