The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has demanded the immediate release of political prisoners in Madagascar and an end to the arrest of opposition leaders and members of Generation Z (Gen-Z) as regional leaders push for a return to constitutional rule.

The SADC Secretariat has been directed to engage strategic partners, such as the Indian Ocean Commission, the African Union, and the United Nations, over the political and security crisis in Madagascar. 

These engagements are to ensure coordinated and complementary interventions.
