Illegal waste dumping and uncollected refuse continue to affect some parts of the City of Windhoek.

Residents are unhappy and want to see improved waste collection and management.

Informal trading remains an important source of income, but it must be conducted in designated areas to prevent disorder and maintain cleanliness in towns and cities, Urban and Rural Development Minister James Sankwasa has told the National Assembly.

The Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, Indileni Daniel, has urged the public to refrain from littering and to take shared responsibility for keeping Namibia clean during the festive season and beyond.
