Thirty-six years after Namibia achieved independence, many people still vividly remember the celebrations on 21st March 1990.
Ananias Abraham, a resident of Windhoek's Ombili residential area, is one of those who were in attendance and reflects on the day's event.
Mourners are flocking to the homestead of the late Swapo stalwart and freedom fighter Kanana Hishoono at Onambutu village in the Eenhana Constituency, Ohangwena Region, to console the bereaved family and pay their last respects.
Hishoono died at age 89 on 14 January.
