The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform has declared a foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) control area within the FMD-free zone in the ||Kharas Region.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform has carried out a regional awareness campaign on the foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) at Khorixas in the Kunene Region.

Farming communities in Namibia's Omaheke Region have welcomed Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Land Reform engagements on foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) prevention.

The sessions targeted the Otjombinde and Otjinene constituencies, where farmers acknowledged the campaign's importance. 

The Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information Services in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform (MAFWLR), Romeo Muyunda, says they have commenced with the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) awareness campaign in targeted regions. 

The outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in neighboring countries threatens Namibia's economic growth, disrupts trade, impacts animal health, and reduces income.|

This was the combined view of industry experts on the prevailing FMD outbreak in South Africa, Botswana, and Lesotho.
 

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform (MAFWLR) has assured farmers and the public at large that no traces of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) have been found in the country thus far.

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform (MAFWLR), Inge Zaamwani, says despite Namibia's status as a Foot and Mouth Disease free (FMD) zone, developments in neighbouring countries necessitate heightened surveillance and vigilance.
