The Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, Indileni Daniel, has acknowledged gaps in the regulation of the gambling industry, saying the Gambling Board is not yet fully operational or adequately staffed to effectively enforce compliance.

The gambling industry remains a regulated sector with significant fiscal and socio-economic implications. 

Therefore, regulatory oversight and revenue administration processes must be conducted in a well-coordinated manner. 

Role players and stakeholders in Namibia's gambling industry regulation gathered in Swakopmund to review the country's gambling strategy.

The discussions centred on boosting revenue, tightening regulation, and protecting vulnerable communities from the social harms of gambling.
