The Deputy Director in the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism's Tourism Department, Elise Hashikutuva, says she is satisfied with input from stakeholders during the validation workshop on the Revised National Policy on Sustainable Tourism Development.
Namibia’s tourism sector has been facing challenges of ensuring that its economic benefits reach local communities, young people, and small businesses while protecting the country's fragile natural and cultural resources.
Over N$350 million has been allocated to state-protected areas, which focuses on enhancing conservation, protection and the sustainable use of wildlife species and their natural habitat.
This includes national parks and other conservation areas.
The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism is currently conducting a workshop to review its performance as the 2025-2026 financial year comes to an end.
