After nine days of mourning, Batswana bid farewell to the late Botswana's third president, Festus Mogae, yesterday.

Thousands of people, including foreign dignitaries, yesterday gave a hero's farewell to Botswana's third president, Festus Mogae, during a memorial service in Gaborone.

Former Mozambican president Joaquim Chissano was among the speakers at a memorial service.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah signed the Book of Condolences today at the High Commission of Botswana in honour of the late former President of Botswana, Festus Mogae.

Botswana's President Duma Boko has announced a three-day mourning period following the death of the country's third President, Festus Mogae. 

Mogae died in his residency in Gaborone yesterday.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has extended condolences to Botswana’s President Duma Boko, the people of Botswana, and the family on the death of former President Festus Mogae, who died at the age of 86.

Botswana has entered a three-day period of national mourning following the death of former President Festus Mogae at age 86.

President Duma Boko announced the mourning period after Mogae died at his residence in Gaborone.

Mogae served as Botswana’s third President from 1998 to 2008.
